Eligibility
The program is only open to rising juniors or seniors in the Wayne-Westland community school district. We are not accepting high school students from outside the Wayne-Westland community school for the 2026 cohort. We have space for five high school students in the 2026 cohort.
GIP students are required to participate Monday-Thursday for the entire 6-week program (Fridays Off). Non-health or non-emergency-related absences may result in being dismissed from the program.
There is no fee to apply and participate in this program!
How to join
This program is a partnership with the Wayne-Westland community school district. Applications from outside this school district cannot be accommodated in the 2026 cohort.
Interested students are invited to our information session (date/time TBD). At this informal meeting, students will hear about the goals and day-to-day schedule of the program in addition to having the chance to ask questions to the program coordinators and mentors.
Interested students should then ask a science teacher or guidance counselor for a nomination.
Students selected to participate will receive further instructions once they have been matched with a mentor and project
