- Overview - 

A six-week immersive research experience in a Department of Human Genetics laboratory! Students will be assigned their own mini-research project and a Ph.D Student Mentor to guide them.  Students will be members of the lab, participate in lab meetings, journal clubs and attend departmental events/seminars.  

- Setting -

The University of Michigan is a public research university in Ann Arbor, Michigan. The Genetic Immersion Program will be held in the Medical Science Building II where a small and collaborative community will provide individual attention, allowing for a smooth transition to our campus and the broader community.

- Goal -

To provide high school students an immersive academic research experience, including mentored training in standard laboratory techniques, problem-solving, to acquire fundamental knowledge in
genetics and what it means to
“be a scientist”.
